The staff of the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank are disaster relief workers. They are on the front lines of serving our communities during fires, power outages, earthquakes, and pandemics. The Food Bank has informed us that they do not believe in paying for 100% of the employees’ health care. We think it’s unethical not to protect frontline workers during a time when the Food Bank has received record donations in the millions of dollars. Piles of money do not feed and nourish the community – healthy workers feed the community!
These are Local 29 members Ivy and Edith, working at a food pantry at Minnie Lovie Ward Recreation Center. They are essential workers and they deserve good healthcare.
